The Embrace Armchair was created in 2015 as a collaboration between Carl Hansen & Son and Austrian design trio, EOOS. Its name originates from a soft, three-dimensional cushion, appearing to float within the frame, that functions as seat, back and armrests, embracing the wooden structure. The piece unites EOOS’s strong sense of modern aesthetics with Carl Hansen & Son’s long tradition of quality craftsmanship to make for a sculptural addition to any interior - with superior comfort. This piece is part of the Embrace Collection. For a precise yet relaxed expression, EOOS combined soft, modern upholstery with a classic, light, solid wood frame. The wooden structure is continuous, with the legs serving as an essential element of the overall silhouette. The striking back of the frame is composed of three pieces assembled in classic finger joints. Established in Vienna in 1995 by Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann, and Harald Gründl, Austrian design collaborative, EOOS draws inspiration for their works from a unique process called Poetical Analysis. Their method focuses on myths, rituals and intuitive expressions, to make connections that extend beyond initial perceptions.
