The Saarinen Tulip Table is perhaps the most famous piece in the Saarinen furniture collection. Designed in the mid-1950s, the Saarinen Table envelopes the thought and theory behind one of the 20th century's great architects. Constructed of cast aluminum, the table flows from top to bottom and from side to side in a fluid exchange of lines. Eero Saarinen used a variety of bases and tops for various interiors during his career. The tulip table shown here is a favorite as it can be used in a variety of spaces, but is most commonly used as a dining table. Eero Saarinen was influenced by both his father Eliel and his education and travels around the world. In 1929, Saarinen studied sculpture in Paris. In 1931 he studied architecture at Yale University. Subsequently, he traveled through Europe, Mexico, and Egypt to see various significant architectural monuments. Our Saarinen Tables are a masterful reproduction of the original Saarinen table. Absolute attention is paid to the workmanship of the stone and base creating a modern classic meant to last for years. The Saarinen table base is available in matte white or black, glossy white or black, or matte silver. The Saarinen Table top is available in a wide range of marble and laminates, including the ever-popular white Carrara and black Marquina. This round dining height Saarinen table has a lacquered cast aluminum base in white or black and stands 28 1/4" in height. The Saarinen Tulip Table base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. Stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish. Manufactured in Italy.
