Created in 1957, this beautiful Saarinen Tulip Table envelopes the thought and theory behind one of the 20th century's great architects. Constructed of cast aluminum, the Saarinen table flows from top to bottom and from side to side. Saarinen used a variety of bases and tops for various interiors during his career. The Saarinen table shown here is a favorite as it can be used in a variety of spaces, but is most commonly used as a dining or conference table. Eero Saarinen was born in Finland in 1910 and moved with his parents to the United States in 1923. He studies architecture and design at Yale University and soon after worked for his father, Eliel. Eliel was one of the founders of the famed Cranbrook Academy of Art. The influence from his father, Cranbrook, and other people he met at Cranbrook would have a lasting influence on Saarinen’s design philosophy. Our Saarinen Tables are a masterful reproduction of the original Saarinen Tulip Table. Absolute attention is paid to the workmanship of the stone and base creating a modern classic meant to last for years. The Saarinen table base is available in matte white or black, glossy white or black, or matte silver. The base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. The Saarinen Tulip tabletop is available in a wide variety of stones and laminates, including the ever-popular white Carrara and black Marquina. Saarinen table stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish. Made in Italy.
