Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. designs and makes purpose-built solid wood furniture and goods for the kitchen from sustainably-sourced domestic hardwoods and food safe, non-toxic finishes. Made in Kingston, New York, each piece bears a natural character that will lend itself to generations of use. No pigments are used to create this black color. The Blackline collection utilizes a natural reactive process to create a distinctive dark finish. This unique technique makes use of the tannic acid inherent in white oak to develop a deep, durable, and food-safe dye; the source of which comes from within the wood itself. As with most natural processes, some variation in color is to be expected. Natural dyes will wear over time developing a rich patina that is special to the object and how it is being used. Materials Oxidized white oak Dimensions 17"Dia x 3"H Care Hand wash with gentle soap and water. Board should be oiled more in the beginning and then later as needed. Highly acidic foods such as lemons will affect the natural dye.
